About FW11B
The Williams FW11B was an evolution of the Constructors' Championship-winning FW11 and proved even more successful. Powered by Honda's turbocharged V6, it carried Williams to the 1987 Constructors' Championship and Nelson Piquet to the Drivers' Championship, while Nigel Mansell scored six Grand Prix victories during the season. The FW11B also played an important role in Williams' early development of active suspension, with specially adapted chassis used to test and race the system. This development programme ultimately contributed to the sophisticated active-suspension technology for which Williams became famous, culminating in the dominant FW15C of 1993.
